Disney Learning Centers
Our multicultural environment encourages
everyone to achieve both personal and professional growth. Disney Professional
Interns at the Walt Disney World® Resort have the opportunity to
learn from experienced Disney professionals. They can also take advantage of
valuable resources at the Disney Learning Centers, which are self-directed
career resource centers located throughout the Walt Disney World
Resort.
Our company established these centers to
provide all Walt Disney World Cast Members access to the tools they
need for ongoing career development. Each location is staffed to offer hands-on
assistance when needed.
Disney Learning Centers offer four basic
services:
Library Services Cast
Members may check out resources in various formats including books, audiotapes,
videotapes and compact discs. These resources enhance their personal and
professional development and complement their working and living experiences.
The Disney Learning Centers team is constantly supplementing resources based on
leading business theories and trends.
Cultural diversity is an important focus of
the Disney Learning Centers. Cast Members can study various cultures and put
theory into practice daily as they encounter Guests and Cast Members from all
over the world. Language resources rate as some of the most popular activities
in our centers.
Computer-Based Learning
Every day, computers are becoming more important to the future of business, and
Walt Disney World Cast Members have the opportunity to improve their
computer skills at Disney Learning Centers. Computer tutorials cover topics
such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Front Page and Outlook 2000. In addition to
computer programs, participants may select tutorials that cover languages,
marketing, accounting and finance. Cast Members may use computers at Disney
Learning Centers for Internet Research, or check out certain resources
including CD-ROMs if they choose.
Learning Activities All
Walt Disney World Cast Members are invited to attend learning
activities offered through the Disney Learning Centers. Learning Activities are
one-hour sessions that cover a variety of topics free of charge to Cast
Members, who may have the opportunity to listen to a Disney executive discuss
his or her career path or investigate the possibility of a career with Walt
Disney World Entertainment, Finance, Marketing or another department. A
representative from Walt Disney World Casting may offer resumé
and interviewing advice. The possibilities are endless, and a new calendar of
activities is published each month.
Career Resources Disney
Learning Centers have a vast collection of resources that help our Cast Members
focus on preparing for a job search, including tutorials on creating a
resume/CV, sharpening interviewing skills, and more. Many of these resources
are mentioned above.
