Jiminy Cricket serves as the official conscience for Disney's Environmentality programs, reminding employees that each person plays a critical role in protecting the environment and that every little bit makes a big difference.
Thus he is perfect as our mascot for Environmentality. At The Walt Disney Company, we believe that respect for the environment is an important part of how we do business.
Disney's Environmentality is the attitude and commitment to do what is right for the environment.
Walt Disney's Commitment

Care for the environment was evident early on with the production of nature films, Walt's support of wildlife and its preservation, and his idea to incorporate conservation in the Walt Disney World Resort master plan.

You've probably heard people talk about conservation. Well, conservation isn't just the business of a few people. It's a matter that concerns all of us. It's a science whose principles are written in the oldest code in the world, the laws of nature. The natural resources of our vast continent are not inexhaustible. But if we will use our riches wisely, if we will protect our wildlife and preserve our lakes and streams, these things will last us for generations to come.

Disney is recognized as a world leader in providing the highest quality entertainment through its theme parks, theatrical film, television, and consumer products. Because the Company has held a unique position of public confidence and trust for more than 50 years, it is keenly aware of its ability to influence public opinion and inspire action. With this significant responsibility in mind, the Company launched an aggressive Environmentality program in 1990 to inspire all employees to think and act with the environment in mind.
Proactive efforts by employees around the world direct the course for Disney's Environmentality. Education, communication, and action are integral to the success of these programs. Disney's Enviroport is published annually to highlight environmental programs and successes and to recognize employees around the world who continue to make a difference through their actions at work and at home.
