Deep, dark and very bright colors require a tinted primer before applying the topcoat. These colors may require multiple coats for a uniform finish.

Make sure to allow sufficient dry time between each coat of paint. When creating borders and shapes, or to separate an area near where you are working, such as a ceiling edge, walls, trim or floors, use painters tape. Gently remove tape immediately after paint application. Allow paint to dry overnight.

With your matey at the helm, an ordinary bedroom becomes a pirate's most treasured bounty.

Paint the wall behind bed and the adjacent wall CAST A SPELL BLUE. Let dry. Use MICKEYS GLOVES to create loose clouds. Paint the clouds using the stencils 1 & 2. Use a sponge with CAST A SPELL BLUE to soften edges of cloud. Use the waves stencil and paint in SPACE HERO BLUE. Use MICKEYS SHADOW to create accents.

Paint bed frame and headboard MICKEYS SHADOW. Paint your ship's name, using pirate-themed lettering stencils MICKEYS GLOVES. We added a pirate flag to the end of the bed for extra fun.

You will be using one color in two different sheens to create this look. Paint entire wall MOUSE EARS Flat sheen. Let dry. The skull heads are painted with MOUSE EARS Hi-Gloss sheen. Be sure to keep the eyes, nose and mouth in the Flat sheen. We used wall sconces to create the torch lights. To create the torch stem use stencil and paint DEEP IN THE WOODS. Use flame stencil and paint flame FIREFLIES GLOW. Use KANGA ORANGE to add accents to the top of the flame.

Paint the top and front drawers 100 ACRE TREES. Paint the sides and feet KANGA ORANGE. Let dry. Use key stencil on drawer fronts and paint ENGLISH MEADOW. Let dry. Accent the sides of your treasured chest with intricate Walls My Way Accents by Imperial. Use fishermen's rope instead of drawer pulls to accentuate the pirate theme down to the dusty details.

Squalls or no squalls, Pirates everywhere will be sailing t'ward these seas.

Paint the tub CAST A SPELL BLUE. Paint wall behind the tub MERMAID WATER DANCE. Use the Kraken stencil and follow the instructions to create the octopus tentacles in SPACE HERO BLUE. Use MICKEYS SHADOW to create accents on the tentacles.

Paint top half of the wall MERMAID WATER DANCE. Paint bottom half CAST A SPELL BLUE. Create a random pattern on the wall with medium and small skull stencils in SPACE HERO BLUE. Paint skull features stencil (eyes, nose, mouth) in MOUSE EARS Hi-Gloss sheen. Paint ceiling CAST A SPELL BLUE. Add chair rail and baseboard in MOUSE EARS Hi-Gloss sheen.

Paint vanity sides and front FIREFLIES GLOW. Let dry. Paint J and S (for Jack Sparrow o' course...or your pirate's initials!) stencils in KANGA ORANGE. To create a distressed look to the cabinet dip a dry brush into SPACE HERO BLUE. Blot your brush on a rag to remove excess paint so that your brush is almost dry. Drag the brush in straight vertical lines down the cabinet.

We added old chair legs around a circular mirror to create the handles on the helm. Paint KANGA ORANGE. Let dry. Paint round bolts along the mirror in MICKEYS SHADOW.
