Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Cake

You'll Need

    • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cake Template
    • 1 box cake mix (18.25 ounce), any flavor
    • 4 16-ounce containers vanilla frosting
    • 1 16-ounce container dark chocolate frosting
    • Food coloring
    • Non-stick cooking spray


  1. Bake cake according to package directions in a 9x13-inch cake pan. Meanwhile, color one container of vanilla frosting a sky blue color.

  2. Color the second container of vanilla frosting grass green.

  3. Divide the third container of vanilla frosting in half and color one half yellow and leave the other half white.

  4. For the fourth container of vanilla frosting, remove 1/4 cup of the remaining vanilla frosting and color it bright blue. Color the remaining vanilla frosting red.

  5. Cover frosting to keep it from drying out and set aside.

  6. When cake has finished baking, remove from oven and let cool to room temperature.

  7. Spread the sky blue frosting across the top half of the cake for "the sky."

  8. Spread the grass green frosting over the bottom half of the cake for "the ground."

  9. Place cake in freezer until frosting is hard, about two hours.

  10. To start decorating the cake, print out the two-page Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Birthday Cake template and tape together.

  11. Spray frozen cake lightly with non-stick cooking spray.

  12. Lay printable on top of frozen cake and "draw" the Clubhouse outline right onto the cake yourself.

  13. Fill seven different pastry bags (all with rounded tips) with the frosting (each pastry bag must have a different-colored frosting). If you don't have pastry bags handy, use sturdy sandwich bags. Wrap one corner of the sandwich bag with two layers of tape to reinforce, and cut off the tip to create a 1/8-inch hole.

    Using the chocolate frosting, outline the Clubhouse mouse head, ears, arm, and leg; outline the hand with the white frosting; outline the body with the red frosting; outline the foot with the yellow frosting; outline the slide and the windows on the red body with the blue frosting.

  14. Fill in outlines with frosting and smooth.

    Makes 12 to 15 servings.
