Walt Disney Records:
Biography of Larry Stewart

Larry Stewart performs "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," the smash hit from The Lion King. The former lead singer of the enormously popular recording group Restless Heart, Stewart is currently promoting his new Columbia release, Why Can't You.

Stewart paid his dues on Music Row, working a variety of odd jobs before breaking into the business. He was a stock clerk at the Country Music Hall of Fame, mowed grass at performing-rights administrators BMI, and ran tape copies at MCA Music. It was while working at MCA that long time family friend Jerry Crutchfield coaxed Stewart into singing a few demos for his brother Jan. Stewart quickly became an in-demand demo singer -- and it wasn't long before he was approached by Tim DuBois, who was putting together a band called Restless Heart.

Though he believes that his strong suit is as a vocalist, Stewart is also an accomplished writer. In addition to penning "Long Lost Friend" for Restless Heart, he also contributed "But I Will" to Faith Hill's debut, "Fool to Fall" as a single for Pearl River, "This Road" to Mike Reid's critically acclaimed Twilight Town, and wrote "Why Can't You," the current title track from his new album.
