This is the story of Mowgli, a young boy who was befriended by a black panther and raised by wolves. But, even with the care and protection of many of the jungle's fiercest animals, Mowgli's biggest threat was Shere Khan ­ the savage tiger of India. Mowgli's animal friends knew that, to be safe, Mowgli should leave the place where he had spent his whole life, and return to the human race.

Mowgli took a burning branch in his hand and ran toward the tiger. The fire frightened Shere Khan so much that he ran off like a scared kitten.

Baloo sighed in relief. "Nice work, Mowgli. We'll never see him around these parts again."
