Though we usually play on an area a little bigger than a basketball court, any large area with a hard surface will do. Set up four cones in a box at each end, about the size of the basketball key. Then place a bowling pin in the center of the box. Have each team choose a goalie, and give one of the balls to each goalie. After the goalies put the balls in play, players may throw and kick the ball to their teammates, but they may not run with the ball. If the ball hits the ground, it must be lifted into the air with the player\'s feet, not just grabbed. Points are scored by knocking down the other team\'s pin: 1 for throwing, 2 for kicking. Goalies may use their bodies to defend shots, but may not touch the pin or any player. After a point is scored, the balls go back to the goalies, the pins are reset, and play is restarted.';

Each player except for the goalkeeper must tuck the ends of two ribbons into their pants. The point of the game is to throw the soccer ball into the opponent\'s goal. The game starts when the away team\'s forward player throws the ball to one of the home team\'s defenders. The ball is then in play for 15 minutes. When 15 minutes have ended it then becomes half time. After ten minutes the players return to the field. If a launcher receives the ball he can only take two steps to launch his ball either into the goal or to a teammate. The movers have a paddle similar to a hockey stick. All baskets are worth one point except for shots taken from behind the half-court line, which are worth five points. The catch is that the rules about players moving are like those of Ultimate Frisbee. Players cannot walk or take any steps. Thus, they must move the football up the court and toward the basket by passes to their teammates. The stall rule from ultimate frisbee is also in effect. (If a member of the opposing team counts up to 7 before the player with football makes a pass, the ball goes over to the other team.) Also, if the football is dropped or the pass is incomplete, the ball goes to the other team. Games are usually played to 11, win by 2.';

gameText[89] = "In the game \"Goal Ball\" we began broke the children up into two teams and put 8 players from each team on the court while the others line the game\'s boundary lines. To play this game, a large safety cone was placed at each end of the gym within a 5 foot circle of hot spots and a playground ball was balanced on top of the cone. The role of the children in the game was to pass a child-sized football amongst their team and try to knock the playground ball off of the safety cone. However, the player with the ball could not take more than 3 steps before passing or shooting and no-one was allow to stand within the circle of hot spots that surrounded each cone and if the ball hit the ground the offensive team lost possession. Since there were so many children involved in our program on a given day, we decided to play with substitutions but allowed the active players to pass to their teammates on the sidelines as a means of keeping all of the children engaged in the activity.
Our use of the \"Goal Ball\" game represented the culmination of our program in that it allowed for the children to display the teambuilding skills they learned during the first week along with the participation skills they had learned during the second week. It also exposed the students to a team orientated game that was neither violent nor over-competitive that they had probably never seen before. In an effort to place the emphasis of this game on participation and cooperation rather than competition and winning, we elected not to keep score during the game. Surprisingly, once we explained and demonstrated the rules and objectives of the game along with the skills required to play it, the children were able to self-regulate their participation and the members of the major\'s club needed only to play a minor role as referees to enforce rules of the game. This was encouraging because it proves that the students learned a little about teamwork, fair play, and cooperative during physical activity through our lessons. In other words, we had accomplished one of our main goals of appropriate peer-social interaction amongst the participants. This objective is in line with NASPE Standard # 5, \"Exhibits Responsible Personal and Social Behavior that Respects Self and Others in Physical Activity Settings\" and was something that we had deemed to be very important for these students given their low socioeconomic level and underprivileged background (NASPE, 2004).";

To stop the opposite team from getting the pin, the team pulls that person or person\'s flags after they cross the half court. When players get their flags pulled, they go to the opposite end of the court where a jail is set up with 4 cones. Those people jump rope 10 times and yell out \"jail break\" and are back in the game again. If a pin makes it back to a team\'s base line, the game will start over. So, the game can start over in 2 ways: if the coin or object is found by the opposite team or if a team gets their pin back to their base line. Both ways the 2 teams are trying to smuggle the small object to the opposite side and bring the pin back to their team\'s side. They must go to jail if they get caught.";

It is played in halves of ten minutes giving it a full duration of twenty minutes. It is recommended that drinks be offered during half time for the students as they will be doing a lot running around.
There are no formal positions for players other than the goalie. Therefore, it is up to the team to strategize and form offensive and defensive components as they so choose. Another positive about not having formal positions is that as many or few children can play as available.
A team scores a point when they have successfully taken their bean bag from one goal to the next without dropping, being tagged, or traveling out of bounds with the bean bag on the way to the shooting line. From the shooting line, the bean bag must land in the hula hoop and bounce out for one point or land in and stay in the hula hoop for two points.
Cones shall mark the boundary lines. When players go beyond the boundary lines with the bean bag, they must return it to the starting position in the opposing team\'s hula hoop goal. This is done by tossing the bean bag to the goalie past the shooting line, having the goalie touch the bean bag into the hula hoop, then having the goalie toss the bean bag to his players in their attempt to travel the bean bag back down the court in order to score.
Throwing is recommended as an underhand toss for kids seven and under. Those who are eight and above tended to be more capable of both throwing overhand and receiving overhand tosses, therefore, they should be able to use the overhand throw by that age.
Teams can use goalies if they so choose. It is an option that the team can determine when strategizing for the game. This is the only person that can go between the shooting line and the hula hoop goal. This person can be changed at half time but may not be changed in the middle of play. If there is no score at halftime, goalies shall be removed from play. However, these people will still be the only ones allowed beyond the shooting line to restart play.
·Bean Bags are to start in the opposing team\'s hula hoop goal.
·Goalies are allowed, but they must stay the same person for an entire half. They may be changed at half time.
·If neither team has scored at half time, then the goalies shall be removed in order to promote scoring for both teams.
·Goalies are the only players allowed to cross the shooting line on either team.
·If a player with the bean bag is tagged, then they must return the bean bag to the opposing team\'s hula hoop to restart.
·If a player with the bean bag steps out of bounds, then they must return the bean bag to the opposing team\'s hula hoop to restart.
·If a player with the bean bag drops the bean bag while running or from a toss, then they must return the bean bag to the opposing team\'s hula hoop to restart.
·Half time is reserved for a five minute rest and water break.
·It is optional to wear different colored pennies for each team.
·If neither team has scored by the end of two halves, then there are two options. If time does not allow, then a tie shall be called. If time is permitted, then sudden death applies. The first team to score wins.
·Be alert! You are always on offense and defense!
·Be safe! Watch out for others to avoid collisions.
·Rules can be changed and altered by the students based on the \"Play Your Way\" guidelines.
·Bean bag tag is about fun and fitness!";
