Eddie Johnson - MLS Forward, Dallas Burn

As one of the premier players in MLS, FC Dallas forward Eddie Johnson attracts a great deal of attention from defenders and fans alike.

Pace, strength and a marksmans eye for goals make him one of the most feared strikers in the League. He is considered one of the brightest young talents on the US Mens National Team and is expected to be part of the 2006 US World Cup Team.

2004 was a particularly impressive year for Johnson, as he became the youngest player in MLS history to lead the league in scoring (12). At the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship, Johnson scored four goals and added one assist, becoming the first US player to receive Golden Boot honors in a major world championship. Selected 19th overall in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft, Johnson was one of the youngest players to sign with MLS.

Before becoming a star in the MLS, Johnson led the US U-17 team in scoring in 2001 and 2000. A native of Daytona Beach, Florida, Johnson was trained at Bradenton Academy. The 21 year old Johnson is currently one of the most valuable players in MLS.

Johnson is also a spokesperson for ESPNs Play Your Way, ESPNs signature youth fitness initiative designed to encourage physical fitness among youth ages 7-12 by removing some of the barriers that prevent kids from participating in physical activities such as lack of motivation, accessible places to play and equipment. ESPN Play Your Way encourages creative recreational play.
