Walt Disney Records:
Biography of Faith Hill

Faith Hill performs "Part of Your World," from The Little Mermaid for the Country Disney: The Best of Country Sing the Best of Disney album. Shortly after her debut album, Take Me as I Am, hit the streets in the fall of 1993, Hill quickly ascended from debut-artist obscurity to back-to-back platinum success, surpassing a million in sales on each of her two releases (Take Me as I Am and It Matters to Me).

In fact, Take Me as I Am has sold more than two million copies, making Hill one of only two new country female artists to achieve double-platinum sales for a debut release. In January '94, she made country music history by becoming the first female country singer to hold Billboard's No. 1 position for four consecutive weeks with a debut single ("Wild One") since Connie Smith's "Once a Day" in 1964. That same year, she was named Favorite New Female Artist by the Academy of Country Music, Top Female Country Artist by Billboard, and Best Country Female Artist in Pollstar's year-end reader's poll.

Hill's second effort, It Matters to Me, is already certified platinum, surpassing the million mark twice as fast as its predecessor. The title cut spent three weeks at No. 1 on the charts, making it the best-selling country single for the first half of 1996. "It Matters to Me" marked Hill's fourth No. 1 single, and six of her seven singles have reached the Top 5.

Hill is active in several charity organizations, such as the newly created Faith Hill Family Literacy Project, designed to help combat illiteracy worldwide. She has also participated in events for such charities as the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, St. Jude Children's Hospital, City of Hope, and T.J. Martell Foundation.
