Walt Disney Records:
Biography of Tanya Tucker

Country music sensation Tanya Tucker performs "Some Day My Prince Will Come," from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. With nearly 30 albums to her credit, Tucker is one of country music's five top-charting female artists of all time. Capitol Nashville's biggest-selling female artist is the youngest woman in any music genre to have a boxed set of her career recordings, and her last five records have been certified gold or platinum.

After signing with Capitol Nashville in 1986, Tucker embarked on the most impressive decade of her career -- a success that continues to this day. Her first Capitol album, Girls Like Me, contained hits like "I'll Come Back as Another Woman," " I Won't Take Less Than Your Love" (with Paul Davis and Paul Overstreet), and "One Love at a Time." She followed the critical success with Strong Enough to Bend, featuring the hit title song and "Highway Robbery."

In 1989, "My Arms Stay Open All Night," from her Greatest Hits release, zoomed to the top of the charts in just five weeks. From 1990's Tennessee Woman, Tucker scored big with "Walkin' Shoes," " Oh, What It Did to Me," and her duet with T. Graham Brown, "Don't Go Out."

What Do I Do With Me, Tucker's platinum-selling 1991 release, had four big radio hits, including the Grammy®-nominated "Down to My Last Teardrop." In October of 1991, the Country Music Association named her Female Vocalist of the Year.

The next album, 1992's Can't Run From Yourself, went gold on the strength of the first single, "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane." The video for the song was named the Academy of Country Music's Video of the Year in 1993, and Tucker was selected as the academy's Female Video Artist of the Year. Another hit from the album, "Tell Me About It," performed with Delbert McClinton, was nominated for a Grammy®.

Tucker's gold-selling 1993 album, Soon, won critical raves and contained such hits as the sultry title cut and "Hangin' In." The following year, Capitol released a boxed set of her career recordings -- a testament to the tremendous talent of this young performer. She has also been a much-in-demand participant on industry projects such as Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles and Rhythm, Country & Blues, where "Something Else," her duet with Little Richard, was deemed a standout. Most recently, she performed George Harrison's "Something" on Capitol's Come Together: America Salutes the Beatles.

Tucker's latest release, Fire to Fire, is the 28th album of her career and ranks among the finest. Her future plans include a domestic and international tour, headlining the "Nashville on Stage" concert series at Opryland, and continuing her fundraising efforts for multiple sclerosis with the Black Velvet Smooth Steppin' Showdown.
