The
character Tarzan® made his first appearance in the 1912
short story by Edgar Rice Burroughs "Tarzan of the Apes
– A Romance in the Jungle."
The producers worked very closely with Danton Burroughs, grandson
of Tarzan® author Edgar Rice Burroughs, to incorporate
the spirit of the novels throughout the film.
According
to writer Bill Motz, the song "Two Worlds" served
as a "guiding light" when writing Tarzan®
& Jane. "It really pointed a clear path toward
stories of how Tarzan’s loyalty is somewhat divided."
Teen sensation Mandy Moore performs two songs in the film:
"The Song of Life" and a duet of the tune "Two
Worlds" with Academy Award®-winning artist Phil Collins.
One day during recording, Tarzan® voice actor Michael
T. Weiss got to meet Mickey (Wayne Allwine) and Minnie (Russi
Taylor) Mouse. Says Weiss: "That was fun and, when you
think about it, a little odd. I mean, Tarzan was hanging with
Mickey and Minnie!"
