Lilia W., 12
See how this winner of the first-ever Disney Adventures Kid All-Star contest showed her character and won!
Lilia W., 12, from Albert Lea, Minnesota, was upset that her neighborhood park was run-down and unsafe. She worked with her city councilman to make changes. The result? Lilia got her town to set aside $12,000 for playground equipment. Go Lilia!
Why did you choose this park as your project?
Lilia: It was the nearest park to my home and my friends' homes. There was only a little dinky slide that was unsafe because it was so old and only two swings and a merry-go-round.
How do you feel now that you've completed the project?
Lilia: I feel really good because it makes me feel like I can do something. I was determined and I didn't give up.
What's your favorite new thing in the park now?
Lilia: I like the tire swing a lot. Every day I go spin around and get myself dizzy.
What sort of advice would you give other kids?
Lilia: Don't give up. If you put your heart into it, you can do it.
