It all started in 1788. Miro was governor. On Good Friday, March 12, I was
in my private chapel located in my house on Chartres Street. It was a very
windy day and a candle just happened to be sitting on the altar. I stepped
out to do something, and I didn't put out the candle.
Suddenly a strong breeze came in and knocked the candle onto a drape, setting
my chapel on fire.
