Wrote books that help foster kids

2006 Team All-Star Winner As little kids, Raven and Heather both spent time in foster care (they were placed in safe homes when their parents couldn't care for them). After they were adopted, they wanted to help other foster kids. So Heather and Raven wrote books for them, including Ravens' Rampages, Heathers' Hurts, What is a Social Worker? and What is a Foster Parent?

Why did you decide to write these books?

Heather: So kids can know that other kids are foster kids too, and they're not alone. They know we've been through it, and we don't want them to be scared.

Raven: And if the adults read them, we hope that they'd understand what to do with the foster kids so they'd feel welcome — and maybe adopt a couple of kids, too.

Did you get any adults to help you out?
Raven: Yes. They helped us with the things we couldn't do, like binding the books, and they drove us because we don't have our licenses yet.
Do you ever hear back from the people who get the books?
Heather: They write notes to us saying, "Thank you for bringing the books to us; we can give them out to the kids we're working with," and "Keep on writing."
