Disney/ABC Cable Overview

Disney/ABC Cable Networks was established in 1996 with the purpose of developing and managing brands that leverage the assets of Disney and ABC Television. To date, the results of this effort include Disney Channel, Toon Disney and SoapNet, which was recently launched in January 2000 built around the long-standing success of ABC Daytime Soap Operas.

Disney Channel, combining original series, movies and specials with timeless classics, is the first full-time general entertainment television network designed for kids and families. Disney Channel features high-quality and unique original series, in addition to strong acquisitions. Annually we are producing over a dozen original movies and nearly a dozen original series, offering action/adventure series, episodic original documentary series and reality sports series. In addition, Disney Channel has recently embarked on the music world, offering quarterly concerts including such music sensations as Christina Aguilara, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and BBMak. In it's 17th year, Disney Channel is viewed in over 64 million homes, carrying the Disney tradition into the homes of future generations and families.

Toon Disney, our 24-hour all-animation network launched in April 1998, targets children between the ages of 2 and 11. Currently in 15 million homes, Toon Disney draws upon the Disney classic animated characters and an unmatched library of cartoon classics. Toon Disney showcases the Walt Disney Company's vast library of animated programming, encompassing seven decades of series, films and specials from Academy Award winning shorts to contemporary television series

Our newest network, SoapNet, was just recently launched in January 2000. SoapNet is a full-time network for soap operas and soap opera fans, providing access to popular and enduring dramas. An advertiser-supported basic cable network, SoapNet delivers the soap opera genre to cable 24/7, featuring the top-rated ABC Daytime lineup in primetime. In addition to the ABC lineup (General Hospital, One Life To Live and All My Children), SoapNet also features reruns of classic programming, including Falcon Crest, Ryan's Hope, Knots Landing and Sisters.

"It is so cool to come to work every morning and be surrounded by such creative and diverse people. It is even cooler working side-by-side with these same people on projects like converging the internet and on-air programming because they value your ideas and make you one of the team."
