The program was founded in 1995 by Entertainment Costuming Cast Member Mike Woodhall and Cast Members began corresponding with the USS Shreveport last September, when it was deployed to the North Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Capt. Bill Valentine meets DisneylandŽ Resort Ambassador Matt Ebeling"Receiving postcards through Operation Uplift was extremely motivational for the crew members of the USS Shreveport," said Capt. Bill Valentine of the USS Shreveport. "On the day I had to tell the crew that our tour was to be extended an additional month, they were, as you can imagine, extremely disappointed. But that afternoon, over 500 postcards arrived from DisneylandŽ Resort Cast Members and suddenly the mood aboard the ship improved."
