Walt Disney Records has lassoed some of the top names in country music to perform on its compilation of classic songs "The Best of Country Sing the Best of Disney." The album takes well-known music from Disney's animated films and stylizes it for country music listeners.
Produced by renowned songwriter
Gary Burr, Country Disney features songs from such classic films as
"The Little Mermaid",
"Beauty and the Beast",
The Lion King,
"Pocahontas," and
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Since the early eighties, Burr has penned countless hit songs for such artists as Wynonna, Tim McGraw, Doug Stone, Collin Raye, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Patty Loveless. He was named Songwriter of the Year by "Billboard" magazine in 1994, and received the same award from ASCAP in 1995. |
"The greatest thing about doing this record is that everyone feels like they are part of a chain that goes back for a real long time," explains Burr. "For that reason, it wasn't hard to get the artists excited about being a part of this -- they're part of the Disney legacy. They're going to be a link in a chain that goes all the way back to Cubby and Annette."
